Immigration Basics: Inviting International Faculty, Staff, Scholars And Other Visitors To Duke |

| Objectives: |
Presented by Visa Services and held at 402 Oregon Street. This class is designed to assist department representatives with issues, factors, and the general mechanics of the visa sponsorship process at Duke. This session will not include issues pertaining to international students or admissions. Topics will include an overview of terminology, processing times and procedures for specific visa categories (B—1, J—1, TN, H—1B, etc.), related legal obligations, and the implications of noncompliance. Tips on avoiding common pitfalls as well as coordinating sponsorship with academic appointments, credentialing, and payroll will also be highlighted. |

Learn the components and procedures required for sponsoring immigration of Duke house staff trainees. Examine specific immigration classifications, requirements for and conditions of sponsorship, and the related request assembly for commonly used visa types. |
